Taibah International School Learners Explore Modern Cattle Breeding at NAGRC&DB and Shine at Agrofest

Primary Seven learners from Taibah International School have taken their classroom agricultural lessons into the real world. Through a hands-on study tour and a collaborative exhibition at the school’s annual Agrofest, the students gained practical insights into the livestock industry. The partnership highlights a growing effort to inspire the next generation of agricultural entrepreneurs in Uganda.

Inside the National Bull Stud

The experiential learning began on 15 July 2026, when the P.7 pupils toured the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) facilities. During the educational visit, the young learners explored key pillars of modern livestock improvement:

• Semen collection: Students observed a live technical demonstration of semen collection processes used for artificial insemination.
• Liquid nitrogen plant: The class toured the production facility to see how genetic materials are preserved at ultra-low temperatures for long-term storage and distribution.

Showcasing Knowledge at Taibah Agrofest

Following their field visit, the P.7 Goldcrest class put their newly acquired knowledge on display during the Taibah Agrofest. Supported directly by technical staff from NAGRC&DB, the students set up a comprehensive “Cattle Rearing” exhibition.

With expert guidance from the agency’s team, the learners confidently explained advanced cattle breeding and management practices to parents, fellow students, and event visitors.

These interactive engagements are vital for shifting young people’s perceptions of farming. By bridging the gap between theory and practice, the collaboration fosters a deep appreciation for modern agriculture. It demonstrates that cattle farming is not just traditional labor, but a high-tech, viable career path and a profitable business opportunity for Uganda’s youth.
