Departments at The National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB)

Executive Director’s Office
The Executive Director’s office at the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of the Centre and provides strategic leadership in the implementation of its strategic goals and objectives. The office provides technical support and carrying out economic policy engagement review by; planning, directing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating economic policy activities of the organization.

Production
The production department is one of the technical departments of NAGRC&DB. NAGRC&DB maintains government breeding farms, ranches and production units for the production of breeding males and females and other germplasm. These are availed to livestock farmers across the country through different uptake pathways.

Finance & Administration
Is a department responsible for the management of NAGRC & DB’s Human Resources, Finances and Administration of the organization’s structures, processes and systems by; Managing organizational bank account/s including bank reconciliations; Manages NAGRC & DB pay roll; Administers petty cash.

Breeding and Reproduction
This department is responsible to manage the reproduction and breeding of animals using the most appropriate and acceptable breeding technologies and techniques by; Planing, budgeting, designing and overseeing implementation of breeding and reproduction programs and projects; Participating in the update and maintenance of the National Gene Depository; Coordinating the development of guidelines and implementation of field oriented breeding extension services for field workers.

Data Bank
Is a department responsible for overseeing organization, management and storage of records in the National Data Bank for characterization, evaluation and cataloguing of livestock, fisheries and poultry genetic resources. The key responsibility of this department is to undertake the first strategic objective to Enhance characterization, inventory and management of animal genetic resources.
