BEWARE OF SCAMS IMPLYING ASSOCIATION WITH NATIONAL ANIMAL GENETIC RESOURCES CENTRE AND DATA BANK (NAGRC&DB)
NAGRC&DB has been made aware of various correspondences, being circulated on WhatsApp, text messages and phone calls from 0759880866, falsely stating that they are issued by, or in association with NAGRC&DB and/or its officials. These scams, which are seeking to obtain money and/or in many cases personal details from the recipients of such correspondence, are fraudulent.
About NAGRC&DB Recruitment procedures: NAGRC&DB Human Resource Manual clearly states that in any recruitment, Advertisements shall be placed in at least one leading English daily (newspaper), the NAGRC&DB website and also displayed on the NAGRC&DB Notice Board as may be determined by Management.
Under section 305 of the Penal Code (Cap. 120), Any person who by any false pretense, and with intent to defraud, obtains from any other person anything capable of being stolen, … commits a felony and is liable to imprisonment for five years.”
NAGRC&DB wishes to warn the public at large about these fraudulent activities being perpetrated purportedly in the name of the Organisation, and/or its officials, through different fraud schemes.
- NAGRC&DB does not charge a fee at any stage of its recruitment process(application, interview, processing) or other fee, or request information on applicants’ bank accounts. To apply for a job go to firstname.lastname@example.org
- NAGRC&DB does not charge a fee at any stage of its procurement process(supplier registration, bids submission) or other fee.
- NAGRC&DB does not request any information related to bank accounts or other private information by phone call, WhatsApp or text messages.
NAGRC&DB strongly recommends that the recipients of solicitations, such as those described above exercise extreme caution in respect of such solicitations. Financial loss and identity theft could result from the transfer of money or personal information to those issuing such fraudulent correspondence. Victims of such scams may also report them to their local law enforcement authorities for appropriate action.
