Fortnight Community Breeding in Kiruhura from 2nd Sept,2020

Starting today 02 Sept,2020, and for the next fortnight, NAGRC & DB will be carrying out community breeding in the Western Uganda district of Kiruhura. The community breeding concept is our concerted effort to help livestock farmers improve production and productivity of their animals leading to improved livelihood of poor livestock farmers. Our technical team will be supporting nucleus livestock farmers with inputs and breeding materials as well as train them in improved animal husbandry practices. Livestock breeding services have over the years been a challenge to farmers due to inadequate Artificial Insemination (AI) services, farmers' poor perception of AI, low conception rates, low access to AI imputs and high quality genetics. It's for this reason that NAGRC & DB launched this community breeding programme in June 2019.

Background The Corona virus (COVID 19) has taken the world by storm. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus. The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty in breathing. You can protect yourself by washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, and avoiding close contact with people who are unwell. Coronavirus disease spreads primarily through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze. It also spreads when a person touches a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth.
